This privacy policy sets out how Safe Driver Today handles your personal information. Safe Driver Today complies with Australian privacy legislation.

Personal information is information or an opinion, whether true or not, that identifies an individual, or information that can be used to identify an individual.

Staying Anonymous

You can browse our online services anonymously.

When you start the Safe Driver Today Quiz, you will be asked for your fist name. If you give us your real name, we will collect that information. You can use an alias. At the end of the quiz, you will be invited to give us your email address if you’d like more information about driver safety. At that point we will collect your email address. Your email address and your name together are personal information.

Collecting personal information

At all times we aim to only collect the information we need to deliver the service we are providing. The main way we collect personal information about you is when you give it to us, for example:

  • when you complete our Safe Driver Today Quiz
  • when you use the contact us form on our website
  • when you call us, or contact us via social media
  • when you ask for access to information we hold about you

You agree that we may retain any of your personal information for a period of seven years for compliance purposes, although we are not obliged to do so.

Social Networking Services and links to other websites

We may provide links to other websites or use social networking services such as Facebook to communicate with the public about driver safety. Social media platforms have their own privacy policies. When you communicate with us using those services we may collect your personal information. We will only use it to help us to communicate with you and the public. The social media platform will also handle your personal information for its own purposes.

Indirect collection

We only collect personal information directly from you. We do not collect information from other sources.

Collecting sensitive information

For privacy purposes, sensitive information can include information about health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or criminal history. When you complete our Safe Driver Today Quiz, you will be asked for information about your age, and whether you use medication when driving. We do not ask for specific details, and you can complete the quiz without providing your real name. We will take steps to appropriately protect any sensitive information we do receive.

Children

A person under the age of 18 years can complete our Safe Driver Today Quiz. They do not need to provide personal information. If a person under the age of 18 years requests further information about save driving, we will use the email address they provide to deliver that information. We do not actively collect information about people under the age of 18 years.

How we use Cookies and other identifiers

We use a range of tools provided by third parties including search engine browsers and our web hosting company, to collect or view App, social media or website traffic information. These sites have their own privacy policies. We also may also use tracking pixels, cookies and session tools to improve your experience when accessing our online services.

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. Some website features may not function properly without cookies.

The information collected by these tools may include the IP address of the device you are using and information about sites that IP address has come from, the pages accessed on our site and the next site visited. We use the information to help to track your use of our online services to improve your user experience and the quality of our services. Security and overseas recipients

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we use respected hosting services, firewall and other electronic security procedures and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect from you. Our internal procedures may include:

  • risk assessment of misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure of your information
  • background tracking and records of changes made to your personal information

For electronic records, we nominate Australia as the place of storage wherever possible. None of the personal information collected via our online services is knowingly sent overseas through our services.

Disclosure

The information that we collect about you is used only for the purpose of providing you with our services. We do not publish your personal information. We may collate de-identified results for sharing with other organisations interested in improving road safety.

We provide access to your personal information in accordance with Australian privacy law. We may share your personal information with our professional advisors if necessary to obtain advice about our business, or in compliance with our accounting or regulatory obligations.

Accessing and correcting your personal information

You may request copies of the information we hold about you, which will only be provided electronically. You have the ability to make a request to amend or correct that information. If we do not agree with your requested change, we will keep a copy of your request with our information.
